Creating a Doll Line: Cookie Dollings

I've been recently working on a line of dolls for girls ages 2-6.  I started with the idea of using a simple cookie cutter outline for the dolls shape. From this point I just played with color and clothes design by drafting different cookie dolls in my pocket sketch book. I've decided on naming the line:
Cookie Dollings.

I like the idea of these dolls having a flat cookie cutter look to them, although I was planning on crafting them from felt.

There is a cute cupcake shop that just opened on main street that I plan to market these dolls to. I am curious if they would be interested in creating these dolls as actual cookies and in return allow  me a shelf to display and sell my doll line at their shop!

I would love to know what you all think of my tiny creations. Here are the beginnings of what I plan to craft the next few days... Please leave me some comments on what you think of my COOKIE DOLLINGS! Do you like the name? Do you like the colors? Do you like the design costumes????

Closing thought...Please let me know which are your top 3 dolls. This will help me to decide which ones to create first!!!

Thanks,
Missy B.

Ladylike Business Card Holder Completed Craft

Yesterday I picked up stiff felt in PINK, GRAY, WHITE, and soft felt in brown paisley, tan paisley, and black crocodile. I decided to make my first Ladylike Card Holder using the Pink and brown paisley felt.

I cut out my pattern pieces and traced onto the colored felt. Then I  used my hot glue gun to attach the Pink and Brown Paisley felt together. The rest is a matter of folding the felt correctly and securing the folds with hot glue. Adding a bow detail with ribbon is the cherry on top :) Such a very simple technique.

To download my Ladylike Business Card Holder Pattern simply join my bog and I will email you the two piece pattern I created for FREE!

See my step by step instructions below to construct...Enjoy!

trace pattern 1 on stiff felt

then mark inside fold lines

trace pattern 2 on soft felt ( shown are three pattern 2 tracers, you only need to trace one)

include inside fold line

Cut out your pattern 1 and pattern 2 pieces of felt
Hot glue soft felt (brown) to back of stiff felt (pink) leaving flap exposed.

Crease all fold marks on stiff felt

Use hot glue to attach sides of card holder

glue down folded sides (glue right side)

glue down left side

Glue folded holder sides again into upright position creating an envelope.

fold flap to pinpoint ribbon placement.

Attach ribbon with hot glue on pinpoint.
Cut small slit into flap above pinpoint, lace ribbon threw slit.

Ladylike Business Card/Gift Card Holder Tutorial (decontrustion)

On my birthday I received the most darling gift card holder! It reminds me of a 1950's "Pocket Book". I just could not throw away this lovely ladylike card holder; instead I placed my business cards inside.

Today I am going to redesign this simple card holder to sell on my etsy shop. So I began deconstructing the ladylike holder to create the pattern. Later today I will use the pattern to cut different colored combinations from stiff felt and glue them together :) They will be available for sale at www.missybernstein.etsy.com

Tomorrow I will post this Ladylike Business Card Holder Pattern for all my followers to down-load and craft on their own.

Two piece pattern is now complete. I will scan and save pattern to my documents. I can reprint on whatever colored card stock paper or transfer to felt. On my way to Michael's Crafts now to find fun colored felt!!!
